Scottish Charity No. SCO37551
We cordially invite all members to a
Special General Meeting
Which will be held in the Dining Hall of the Infants building
St Joseph’s Primary School
1st April 2017
The purpose of the meeting is to inform the members of the Inverness Polish Association of the change of Constitution.
In 2016 the Committee submitted an application to change the Constitution of the Charity to that of a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO)
The proposal to the Office of the Scottish Charities Register (OSCR) is designed to protect the long-term future and activities of the Inverness Polish Association as a Charitable Organisation.
The original registered Charity number, granted in2006, SC037551 remains the same.
The benefits arising from the change to a SCIO are listed below:
• As a SCIO, the Association will continue to function in accordance with the changes in Scottish Charities Law.
• As a SCIO the Association will be a separate legal entity and its members will have the benefit of limited legal liability, which is not the case at present. The Association wants to ensure that all it’s members are protected from personal liability.
• As a SCIO the employees of the Association during the time of its existence and the long –term future of the Saturday School are protected.
• As a SCIO the Association will be in a position to benefit from certain tax and rates relief schemes.
The SCIO will have the same name as the Association and all of the current members will be automatically entitled to become members of the SCIO.
Only the legal form of the Association will change, in all other respects, the aims and purposes and membership of the Association will remain the same. The Bank accounts of the Association and Saturday School remain as before.
